Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?
He's saying that the boo boys don't affect him at all but it's upsetting his Dad.

It's not like he picks the team at the end of the day is it?

I'm guilty as most on here slagging him off but remember he came to us when he were in the shit and galvanised the squad at that time.

Agree he shouldn't start games when full squad fit as his legs have gone, maybe we should lay off him a bit?

Re: Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?

Absolute garbage if you look at players that did that they're usually fucked as soon as they get in their 30's and your example proves that Cole was one of the best fullbacks in the world in his prime but he's only 34 and he's been shot for about 3 years if he'd looked after himself he'd probably still performing near his top level
Nolan did ok for his first 18months and he's been shit ever since but he'll still be picking up 60bags for another 18months whilst producing pretty much fuck all
And going for a couple of beers after a game isn't a massive problem but thats not what he does and you probably know that

Ludo, Poyet came on late on for Nolan.
He did t make much impact else than giving us better legs. For me he looks a bit lightweight yet.
Amalfitano is far better

Was it a coincidence that we had our best spell of the game after Nolan was replaced by Poyet?

Serious question, didn't see the game... how did Poyet do? Would like to see Poyet have more of a role on Tuesday.

If you earn upwards of 50k a week and are captain of the club you should stand out.
He does stand out...just for all the wrong reasons.
Sam need to stop picking him

Name the worlds 10 best players... Then ask yourself if they constantly get 'pissed up'.

Re: Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?
I am not a Nolan fan at all but he had a very good game yesterday. Him and Jenkinson arguably our best players. The problem is that our player of the season Downing has to play on the left of the diamond to compensate for Nolan where personally, I don't think he is as effective and as a team, we look poorer. After Nolan went off yesterday Downing spearheaded our midfield and we looked so much more dangerous.

Nolan had a much better game than the Everton one that is for sure. Actually don't remember seeing him lose the ball yesterday where as against Everton He struggled to make a single pass!

As for giving the man stick. I'm sure he feels a bit better every Friday when that 50 bag hits his bank account.

Re: Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?
I don't give a flying fuck if it upsets him, his dad or his dog.
If you earn upwards of 50k a week and are captain of the club you should stand out, week in week out he seems to let games pass him by.
Lucas Neill had his faults as a footballer but he never shyed away from a tackle and wore the armband of this club with pride.
We can't keep rolling out the old line of he helped us in the championship. Vaz te's goal got us promoted, Cole scored 15 goals that season and Reid and Tomkins formed a very good partnership. Nolan wasn't our only performer that year.

I see Ashley Cole out loads of times after he had played a game I didn't see it effecting his performances.

Re: Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?
It's such a shame. We proved that we could have pushed on this season but Allardyce's decision to play Nolan plus O'brien, Cole and Vaz Te will probably see us finish in mid table. Sullivan and Gold must surely be fuming. The sack in April would be good.

Re: Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?
Was the four month extra injury time due to the beano? Maybe some, but surely not all, though I agree, as I said, that I'd prefer all our players to be tea-total Giggsy yoga types, rather than the Bryan Robson type pissheads.

I didn't mean to say that you said they'd been drinking before matches, I was just trying to find out if this Kevin Nolan suite is only used the night after the match, rather than the night before.

Well the trips didn't work that well as he came back got cunted by the manager for being unfit and dropped for the first two preseason ges then got injured for a further four months......great captaincy....
I never said he's taken players out the night before a game

Fordy there's nothing wrong with them having a life but getting 60 bags a week to be a proffessional athlete you think you could find something to with that time other than booze....not that bigger ask is it to make the odd sacrafice

Re: Time to lay off Kevin Nolan?
I've nothing against the fella on a personal level, but as a player, I've never been a fan his. Ok, he did a job for us the first couple of years, but now he's just a lumbering lump of lard who should never start matches. Bring him on for the last 15 - 20 minutes if needed.
For the last year or so it's been like playing with 10 men when he starts. When you see the pace the game is played at these days it's ridiculous that such a plodder should even be considered.
